General Email Settings
- Mail account type: Use POP3. IMAP available, bear in mind the mailbox quote is 1GB. To request a larger mailbox please contact Ace for options.
- Name: Enter your full name (e.g. John Maheta).
- E-mail Address: Enter your full e-mail address (e.g. johnmaheta@acenet.com.au).
Incoming Mail Server
- Host Name: mail.acenet.com.au
- User Name: Use your full e-mail address (e.g. johnsmaheta@acenet.com.au)
- Password: Use your mailbox password (this is different to your broadband password)
- Leave a copy of messages on server: Please turn this off whenever possible, or set to less than 7 days (preferably 1 day)
Outgoing Mail Server
- Host Name: mail.acenet.com.au
- Authentication: Please enable SMTP authentication
- Port Number: 587
- User Name: Use same settings as incoming mail server
- Password: Use same settings as incoming mail server
A common problem is that you are able to receive, but do not send e-mail. If so, this is because you need to enable SMTP authentication on your outgoing server.
Another is SSL. If you are setting up an email address ending in ‘@acenet.com.au’, you should select Yes to SSL options both incoming and outgoing servers. If you’re setting up an email address for your own custom domain, you can use the standard non-SSL setup, or contact us about purchasing an SSL certificate for your account.
