Can’t send email? (failing to connect to SMTP server)
It recommend where possible that you make use of your ISPs SMTP server to send email. This is more secure and has many benefits.
If, however, for some reason you really need to use your web hosting SMTP settings here are some steps to troubleshoot:
- Some ISPs block port 25 from sending email (the default SMTP port).
- Try using port 26 for Outgoing (SMTP) mail server (often found under “Advanced settings”).
- Ensure that you have enabled “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.”
- Authentication information should be same as your POP3 login.
- Ensure that you are NOT using an encrypted connection (if using ports 25/26).
Create an Amnet Email Account
You can create an email account through your hosting control panel (cPanel). The number of email accounts you have is determined by the hosting plan you are currently on and is shown on the main screen of cPanel when you have logged in.
To create a new email account:
- Log into your hosting control panel (cPanel).
- Select the Add / Remove E-mail account(s) option from the main screen of cPanel.
- Under Add a New Email Account, enter the name of the account, the account’s password, and the account’s quota (amount of disk space the account can use) in their respective blank fields.
- Finally, select the Create button to create the email account.
NOTE: If the account was made successfully, the following will appear (except it will include the information you supplied in the sterile fields).
How to Access Amnet Webmail?
Webmail systems allow you to access your email through a web browser from anywhere in the world.
You can access Webmail from within cPanel, but the most convenient way to access it is by going directly to the web address:
- www.yourdomain.com (substituting your main hosted domain for yourdomain.com).
Note: You may want to bookmark this address for later use.
Logging into webmail
- Go to your domain’s Webmail address.
- In the authorisation box, enter your email address for the user name and the password for the email account.
- Once logged in, select your preferred Webmail application (Horde or SquirrelMail).
