What is UNE Webmail?

UNE Webmail uses Microsoft’s Office365 cloud service for student email. Access to Office365 is web based from Login with your full UNE email address (username@myune.edu.au) as your username and your UNE password as your password.

Professional email for individual users is a web based digital communication platform with access to user accounts, secure cloud storage, and spam protection by this webmail.

UNE Webmail Sign in

To sign in to the UNE (University of New England) webmail it is mandatory to have an organizational account with the user or an account received from the university. Use the following steps to sign in to the UNE (University of New England) webmail:

First Open this webpage.
Enter your UNE students username or email.
Enter your valid password.
Then click on the “Sign in” button.

How to Access UNE Student Email Account?

There are a number of ways you may access your student email account. For each method, you will need to use your student email address (username@myune.edu.au) and the associated password to log in to the account.

Direct Log In

You can choose to access your student email account using the following method:

The direct login page: access.myune.edu.au; or
The Webmail link on the Current Students page (listed within the Quick Links section).

Alternatively, if you are logged in to myUNE, you may access your email through the Webmail link on the top right menu of your myUNE home page. If you are accessing your email account by direct link, it is recommended that you bookmark or save the relevant login page link for future reference.

Desktop Email Programs

If you wish to use your student email account with Microsoft Outlook or another desktop email program, you may need to configure these settings manually. You can use the steps below or follow the instructions to configure these settings.

Step 1
Select File > Add Account.
Step 2
Enter your email address and click Connect.
or
Enter your name, email address, and password, and click Next.
Step 3
If you need to enter specific values for incoming and outgoing server names, port numbers, or SSL settings, you can use Outlook’s advanced setup option.
Step 4
If prompted, enter your password again, then select OK > Finish to start using your email account in Outlook.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you remain aware of incoming messages from the University, and respond to communications from the University in a timely manner.

What is Office365 UNE Student Email?

UNE uses Microsoft’s Office365 cloud service for student email. All students are automatically set up with an Office365 account and are expected to check their UNE student emails at least once a week.

Access to Office365 is web based from access.myune.edu.au Login with your full UNE email address (username@myune.edu.au) as your username and your UNE password as your password.

You can choose to forward your email to an external / non-UNE address (instructions are in the link on the Email Vacation / Forwarding section), but must make sure that the forward remains current to receive all official UNE communication.

Office365 is Exchange based and can be set up on desktop mail clients (such as Outlook) as well as on your mobile device (iPhone, Android etc.). Microsoft provides excellent help on this process with step-by-step instructions for all compatible phones/systems.

In Office365, you have a 25GB mail quota as well as access to the Microsoft Office Online web versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, a OneDrive “cloud storage” directory and Office Pro Plus.

How to setup UNE student email onto phone?

Your UNE (University of New England) here’s a quick and easy way to ensure setting up email on your mobile phone. This can be done through the default default email program on your phone or through the free “Outlook” application. If the user or student is a UNE If you want to set up email on mobile phone, you can use the following steps.

Email Application

If you don’t want to download a separate app to manage your emails, you can use the default ‘mail’ app that comes with your phone. On iOS this is called ‘Mail’, and on Android it is usually called ‘Email’, and the process is very similar on either.

Open the Mail / Email app already on your phone, and find the ‘add account’ option.
On iOS, if you already have another email set up you may need to go to the ‘Settings’ app.
Then look under ‘Passwords & Accounts’ to find this ‘Add Account’ option.
Select ‘Exchange’ from the available account options.
Enter your email address (username@myune.edu.au).
If prompted for a ‘description’ give it a familiar descriptive name.
You should be redirected to the UNE login page, with your email already filled in.
Enter your password and click ‘sign in’ to continue.
Click the ‘Accept’ or ‘Save’ button on the final page to confirm.
If prompted, enable notifications to make sure you see emails as soon as they arrive.
You should now see your emails appear within the list.

Outlook Application

You may also like to use the official Outlook app from Microsoft, it is free to download and easy to use, with a few extra features such as focused view & quick access to your email calendar. Again, the process is nearly identical on both iOS and Android.

Go to the App Store (iOS) / Play Store (Android) and search for ‘Outlook’.
It should be a free download with a blue & white icon.
Open the Outlook app, and select ‘Add Account’.
If other accounts are suggested but not your UNE email address, you can click ‘Skip’ to find the ‘Add Account’ page.
Enter your email address (name at myune dot edu dot au) and click the blue ‘Add Account’ to confirm.
You should be redirected to the UNE login page, with your email already filled in. Enter your password and click ‘sign in’ to continue.
If asked if you’d like to add another account, click ‘Skip’ or ‘Maybe Later’ to continue.
If prompted, enable notifications to make sure you see emails as soon as they arrive.
You should now see your emails appear within the list.

Browser

There are times when you may want to quickly access your emails from a phone or computer that isn’t your regular one. In these cases it can be a quick solution to access your student email directly from your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc).

To begin, go to link – or alternatively find the ‘email’ link from the UNE website, from myUNE, or from the white bar at the top of your Moodle units.
From the sign in page, enter your student email address (name at myune dot edu dot au).
Like in the above methods, you should be redirected to the UNE login page, with your email already filled in. Enter your password and click ‘sign in’ to continue.
If prompted to ‘stay signed in’, select your preference (‘yes’ will just remember who you are).
You can now access, and respond to your emails.
Don’t forget to log out from the top right when finished.

How to UNE Email Forwarding?

Vacation Messages

You can set up a facility to have your email account automatically sent back a message to the people who email you.

Login to the email service at access.myune.edu.au.
Click on the cog icon to the right of your name.
And Click on Set Automatic Replies.
Click on Send Automatic Replies.
Enter the details and select the options you wish to use.
Click on Save to complete the process.

Email Forwarding

There may be occasions when you will want your email messages to be sent to another email address, such as when you’re on holiday and are unable to access UNE email. Login to the email service at access.myune.edu.au.

Click on the cog icon to the right of your name.
Type ‘forward’ in the search field and press the enter key on the keyboard.
Click on ‘Forwarding’ search result.
Click on “Start Forwarding”.
Type in the address you are forwarding to.
Save your changes to start forwarding.

Note: They recommend that you do not keep a copy of the forwarded message if you don’t intend to log in to your UNE email account.

Effective Use of UNE Emails

Communicating with colleagues, friends and family is made easy through emails. Over time they accumulate a large number of email files in the mailboxes, which has a impact on UNE server resources, as all emails sent and received is stored on the email server.

There are some simple guidelines that will help maintain your mailboxes and the server resources.

Check email: Go through your mailbox once a month and delete any non-essential emails. If you haven’t referred to an email for two months, delete or archive it.
Clean archive emails: Go to a local personal folders area or to USB Be aware that your personal folders area has a size limit and once reached, you will be asked to clean it out.
Set auto archive: Set-up auto archiving on your Calendar, Tasks and Sent Items folders so they are deleted or archived if older than two months.
Delete item: Set-up Outlook to “Empty Deleted Items” folder when exiting the program.
Check folders: Check the size of your mailbox and folders. This will indicate where the most messages are located to help you tidy up these areas.
Save items: Save attachments to Network drives or USB and then remove them from the email messages.
Rules: Use email Rules to automatically sort email for you.
