What is VU Webmail?
VU Webmail with any web application, webmail’s main advantage over the use of a desktop email client is the ability to send and receive email anywhere from a web browser.
You are issued with a Victoria University Student ID number when you enrol. Depending on when or how you enrol, and your student number may be given to you on a printed enrolment slip, emailed to you or sent via SMS.
VU Webmail Login
To login to VU (Victoria University) Webmail you will need a Victoria University student or staff username or ID and password, so you can login to VU Webmail using the following steps:
- First Open this webpage link.
- Enter your Student or Staff ID or Username in the field.
- Issue your Password in the field.
- Then click on the ‘Login‘ button.
How to Forgot Victoria University Email Password?
If you forgot your password after logging in to VU Webmail, you can reset it by following the steps below.
- You Can First Open Forgot Password Link.
- Click on the ‘Forgot Password?’ option.
- Then enter your student or staff ID in the field.
- Click on the ‘Continue’ button.
Victoria University Webmail Login Troubleshooting
- Username: Use ‘s’ (lower case) followed by your Student ID number; for example: s1234567.
- Password: Use your MyVU password. If you are a first time user, your password will be set to default – ‘Temp’ (uppercase T) followed by your date of birth in the format Tempddmmyyyy. For example: 12 May 1983 is written as Temp12051983.
If you cannot remember your MyVU password, or the default does not appear to work, you can have your password reset.
How to Access MyVU (Victoria University) Account?
It’s important to check your student email regularly because they use it for notifications including:
- Course updates
- Events
- Messages from your lecturers and students
- Important administration issues
Your email account is activated within 48 hours of successful enrolment at the University.
You can access your student email through a web browser using this easy to remember URL: www.vu.edu.au/studentemail.
LOG IN DETAILS
Username
Your username is your student number with an “s” at the start (i.e. s123456).
Note: Your email address is usually firstname.lastname@students.vu.edu.au.
Password
Your student email password is the same password as your MyVU password.
Login Via MyVU
You can also access your email through MyVU and Once you’re logged in, click on Student email in the side menu.
How to Setup Victoria University Email on Mobile Device?
For the best experience on IOS and Android they recommend installing the Office365 Outlook app.
- Simply install the App by searching the iTunes store or Google Play for the Microsoft Outlook App.
- Sign in with your full email address and a blank password.
- You will be redirected to MyVU where you will need to login with s+student number (i.e. s123456) and your MyVU password.
- Your email account is now configured.
Forward Student Emails to a Personal Account
If you have a personal email account that you check regularly, you can redirect your VU (Victoria University) student email so it’s automatically sent to your existing email address.
To forward your student emails onto your personal email account, follow these steps:
- Log into your student email account.
- Go to the settings cog icon in the top left corner and select options from this menu.
- Under Mail, and Accounts headings select Forwarding.
- Click on Start Forwarding.
- Type in the address for email to be forwarded to and select whether to keep a copy of forwarded emails in your Office 365 email.
- Important emails from the University that are normally sent to your student email address, will now be sent to your preferred personal email address.
Victoria University cannot guarantee the delivery of any email forwarded to an external email account. Keep a copy of emails in your student email account and regularly log in to your account.
Download VU student email in Office 365
As a VU student email, you can download and install Office 365 ProPlus for free on up to 5 personal computers/devices.
Office 365 email provides you with access to:
- 50 GB of email storage using Microsoft Outlook Web.
- Calendar.
- Multiple browser support.
You can also set up a personal Microsoft account at www.onedrive.live.com. A personal Microsoft account will give you access to:
- OneDrive for online storage
- Skype
- Other Microsoft services.
Note: Victoria University does not administer this personal account on OneDrive and cannot reset passwords.
How to Download and install VU student email on PC/Windows?
Use the following instructions to install on a PC or download the PC/Windows instructions with Victoria University Email.
- First Open or Go to this link www.vu.edu.au/studentmail.
- Login with your student email details (e.g. firstname.lastname@live.vu.edu.au).
- If you can’t login, try using your student id@live.vu.edu.au (e.g. s1234567@live.vu.edu.au).
- Click on the Settings icon in the top right corner, and then select Office 365 settings.
- Click Software in the left menu.
- Select your desired language.
- If you are installing Office for Windows, Microsoft recommends using the 32-bit installation.
- Select Advanced if you wish to install the 64-bit version instead.
- Click Install to download and install the latest version of Office.
- When prompted to Run or Save the setup, select Run. Otherwise you can save, and run the setup later.
- Click Yes on the User Account Control.
- Click Next on the welcome screen.
- Enter your student email address and click Next.
- Select Organisational account.
- Enter your student email password and click Sign in.
- Office will connect to your student email account.
- Select Next.
- Select Use recommended settings and then click Accept, and Tap Next.
- Click Next on the ‘Meet OneDrive’ screen.
- Choose an Office background and click Next.
- Select Take a look to see the introduction or choose No thanks.
- Click All done button.
Download and install VU student email on Office 365 for Mac
Use the following instructions to install on a Mac or download the Mac instructions with VU Webmail.
- First Open or Go to this link www.vu.edu.au/studentmail.
- Login with your student email details (e.g. firstname.lastname@live.vu.edu.au).
- If you can’t login, try using your student id@live.vu.edu.au (e.g. s1234567@live.vu.edu.au).
- Click on the Settings icon in the top right corner, and then select Office 365 settings.
- Click Software in the left menu.
- Select your desired language.
- If you are installing Office for Windows, Microsoft recommends using the 32-bit installation.
- Select Advanced if you wish to install the 64-bit version instead.
- Click Install to download and install the latest version of Office.
- When prompted Save the setup DMG file.
- Double Click the DMG file.
- Click Office Installer.
- Click Continue on the welcome screen.
- Tap Continue.
- Select Install.
- Enter your MAC username and password.
- Click Close.
- Select Sign in to existing Office 365 subscription.
- Enter your Student Email address, Click Next.
- Select Organisational account.
- Enter your student email password and Click Sign In.
- Enter First Name, Last Name and Click Continue.
- Select your preference in options.
- Select Done.
